Meet the Empress
The Empress behind Always an Empress

Hi, I'm Tracee. Welcome to my digital home! There are a few things you should know about me.

1) I'm and educator at heart. I've been educating Black and Brown people for almost 20 years in almost every capacity possible. Charters, Private schools, African-centered, large, public, small public, you name it, I've taught someone in it. What I've learned from my years in education is that our system in BS and it doesn't work anymore. That's why I got out.

2) My mama passed away 6 months before my 25th birthday from stomach cancer. That experienced shaped many of the choices I made ( and didnt make) in my adulthood and inform much of the way I live my life. It gave me a freedom that I don't think many people have access to and I'm interested in more people having access (without having to lose their mama)

3) I was born in America but I'm super Caribbean...Super Duper Caribbean (Representing DA until I DIE- Dominica, the commonwealth, not the Republic for those who don't know...yet)

Much of what you will find on these pages are the lessons that I had to unlearn or lessons that I wished I learned that have shaped me into the Empress you see before you. Most of these lessons involve the human elements that most of struggle so much to navigate everyday. Love, Joy, Grief, Trauma, etc. It is the curriculum I wish we taught in schools.

Some of what you read and watch are personal accounts, some of them are backed by science, all by experience. Some will teach and some will warn but all of it is meant to create a space where we can imagine the world that works for everyone and share some tools to build that world.

Thank you for joining me and welcome!

Love Always,
An Empress
